Sheriff’s office: Spring Hill woman befriends man, takes car

SPRING HILL -

A Spring Hill woman was booked on charges of grand theft and grand theft auto Wednesday, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement said Christine Marie Trueman, 39, recently “befriended” a man, and showed up at his house and “pleaded” with him to let her use his car.

The man refused, but Trueman took the keys and drove off, the arrest affidavit stated.

Trueman was apprehended on Toucan Trail and found with the victim’s briefcase, which was missing an envelope with $500 in cash, according to law enforcement.

The woman has had her license suspended five times, the affidavit stated, and court records show Trueman avoided felony drug charges earlier this year through pretrial diversion.

Jail records show Trueman had a warrant out of Pasco County for her arrest, and she is being held on about $20,000 bond.
