A Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detention center work squad van on Tuesday morning rear-ended a vehicle at Wiscon Road and Broad Street, the agency reported.

A man driving the vehicle struck by the van was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff’s officials said.

The sheriff’s van was driven by detention Deputy Stacy Gooding, who was transporting three low-risk female inmates who work as trustees in the community, officials said. Neither Gooding nor the inmates were injured, sheriff’s officials said.
