Social media blamed for alleged disturbance

A 25-year-old Brooksville woman was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated battery for attempting to run over someone with her car during a verbal argument.

Police responded to the Winn Dixie on Broad Street around 8 p.m. after being alerted to a disturbance. Multiple callers reported that Shericka Sheppard, of 24 Shady Oak Villas Circle, was attempting to run someone over.

Upon arrival, deputies and witnesses confirmed that Sheppard struck the victim with the vehicle twice, causing injuries to her leg.

The victim told police that cause of the argument was because of comments posted on social media.

Sheppard was arrested and taken to the Hernando County jail and held on $5,000 bond.
