Spring Hill teen stabs girlfriend, deputies said

SPRING HILL – A 17-year-old Spring Hill teen was arrested Sunday after trying to stab his girlfriend in the stomach, deputies say.

According to a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, Iharo Bonano and the victim were driving to pick up a friend to go on a fishing trip.

The victim asked Bonano to turn off music on the radio she thought was “vulgar,” the report shows.

The victim pulled into a parking spot at Spring Haven Loop Apartments on Mariner Boulevard, and the two started arguing, deputies said. Bonano asked the victim to take him home and when she started to drive off, he pulled the emergency brake, according to the report.

When the woman told Bonano she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him anymore, he said he “wasn’t going to be without” her, the report says. He then grabbed a 6-inch fishing knife, pulled it out of its sheath and tried to stab her in the stomach numerous times, according to the report. The victim was able to block stabs to the stomach, but received a gash in her biceps while blocking the knife, deputies said.

Bonano admitted cutting the victim on her arm with the fishing knife, but did not make any further statements to the arresting deputy.

He was booked at the Hernando County Jail on felony charges of aggravated battery, and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, where he remained in custody.
