SPRING HILL - A 24-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after battering her boyfriend, who has cerebral palsy, at their Spring Hill Drive home.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Mary R. Chechile and her boyfriend were arguing because she wanted to use his electronic cigarette.

Chechile slapped the man in the face, and later pushed him to the ground and broke the device, deputies said.

He did not require medical attention, the affidavit shows.

Chechile was arrested on charges of crimes against a person (abuse of an elderly or disabled adult without great harm), and was being held in lieu of $500 bail.

Court records show Chechile avoided a conviction of retail theft in 2008 through pre-trial diversion, and had her adjudication withheld in 2009 on charges of resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
