SPRING HILL - A Spring Hill woman was arrested Saturday on drug charges before allegedly attempting to smuggle syringes and narcotics into the Hernando County Jail in her underwear.

A Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrest report said Joslyn A. Schicchi, 27, was the passenger of a vehicle pulled over at the intersection of Spring Hill Drive and Omaha Circle.

The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license, and when a deputy asked Schicchi to step out of the vehicle, the deputy saw syringes and a spoon in plain view on the floor.

The report alleges Schicchi admitted to having drug paraphernalia, was placed under arrest, and taken to the Hernando County Jail without incident.

"Upon arrival at the jail, a thorough search of the defendant revealed two additional syringes, three round white pills identified as Hydromorphone, and four rectangular white pills identified as Methadone hidden in her panties," the deputy wrote.

Jail records show Schicchi was charged with attempting to smuggle contraband into the jail, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is being held on a total bond amount of $4,500.

Jail records dating back to last May show Schicchi has been previously arrested on charges of battery, failure to appear in court, fraud, and larceny.
