BROOKSVILLE - Scott Baker, a senior at Springstead High School, won a contest to design the Supervisor of Elections' new logo.
Baker's logo has the words, "Vote Hernando" inside a red, white and blue circle. An American flag comes out of the "V" in vote. Baker also included the phrase: "Promote the Vote."
In all, there were about 50 entries representing six schools. Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley and Citrus County Supervisor of Elections Susan Gill judged the contest to help determine which logo would best assist in promoting the office.
Anderson, who took office in January, said it didn't take her long to realize that she lacked a logo to represent her operations when sending out printed material.
"I'm very happy with the design," she said. "'Promote the vote' was a very clever catch phrase."
"I applaud all of the students who took the time to enter the contest and for the dedicated teachers who helped facilitate their efforts," Anderson said.
A gift packet was presented to the winner and alternates, with gift cards donated by Chick-fil-A, Domino's Pizza, Gus Guadagnino-Joni Industries, and Day Law Office.
