BROOKSVILLE - A 16-year-old student was arrested at Nature Coast Technical High School on Wednesday after school staff found alcohol and a knife in his bookbag.

According to an arrest affidavit, Assistant Principal Pam Loder searched the defendant's bag after several students reported he brought alcohol to school.

Loder found two Cracker Barrel syrup bottles and a Stetson aftershave bottle with alcohol inside them, as well as a knife with a 3.5-inch serrated blade.

The teenager, whose name is not being printed due to his age, said he didn't know the knife was in the bag, the affidavit shows.

He was arrested on charges of possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and possession of a weapon on school property, and booked at the Hernando County Jail. The Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted, according to School Resource Officer Jason Deso.
