The Tampa Bay area is under a Tornado Watch as a wet, and potentially dangerous, St. Patrick's Day is in store today for the Tampa area.
The Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 p.m from Hernando County to the south as a powerful line of storms rolls through the region.
Some areas in the northern Tampa Bay region started seeing rain this morning, with heavier downpours expected to arrive in the immediate Tampa area early this afternoon, News Channel 8 meteorologist Bryan Bennett said.
The storms, moving in off the Gulf of Mexico, could also spawn strong winds and a chance of tornadoes.
Highs today will be in the low- to mid-70s, with lows in the low- to mid-60s.
The rain will continue through today, with gradual clearing on Tuesday and a sunny, pleasant work week ahead.
