Track brawl leads to teen’s arrest

Published:

BROOKSVILLE A West Hernando Middle School track meet was disrupted Wednesday afternoon after a fight broke out near the concession stand.

Clarence Holder, Jr., 18, allegedly punched an 18-year-old male in the ear with a closed fist, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.

The victim “attempted to defend himself,” and the fight was broken up by staff and an off-duty deputy before law enforcement arrived.

The victim did not need further medical attention, and when questioned, Holder only said “take me to jail.”

Holder – who turned 18 on Tuesday – was booked on charges of battery and disturbing a school or educational institution.

The Brooksville man was later released on $750 bond.
