Two bodies found in Chassahowitzka Forest

BROOKSVILLE Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Major Case detectives are currently working a death investigation with preliminary information indicating a domestic-related murder-suicide involving two people found deceased in a heavily wooded area of the Chassahowitzka Forest.

Sunday at 2:45 a.m. the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to a heavily wooded area of the Chassahowitzka Forest on Commercial Way in Brooksville at the request of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they discovered the bodies of Michael Jones, age 66, and Glenda Jones, age 66, deceased in the woods.

The investigation thus far indicates Michael and Glenda Jones were reported missing in Pinellas County during the early morning hours on May 19.

Preliminary investigation indicates the incident is isolated, and that residents do not need to be concerned for their safety, according to the sheriff’s office.
