BROOKSVILLE - An unconscious man who passed out in a parking lot on Tuesday night was found with stolen items in his pocket.

According to Brooksville police, fire/rescue responded to Family Dollar at 671 S. Broad St. for a man who had fallen down in the parking lot and was unconscious. The responders found stolen goods valued at $15 in his pockets.

The man was identified as Terry Kinzer, 55, of Brooksville.

Store employees later told officers Kinzer seemed to be on drugs when he tried to pay for multiple items with a $1 bill. When Kinzer left the store, he set off the security sensor and fled on foot before falling down.

Kinzer was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Early Wednesday morning, Kinzer was seen walking home from the hospital near Mobley Road, and arrested on retail theft charges.

He is being held on $250 bond.
