BROOKSVILLE -

A 48-year-old man riding on a motorized bicycle Tuesday was booked on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a driverís license.

According to the Hernando County Sheriffís Office, David Wayne Harris, of Weeki Wachee, was riding a bike powered by a gas motor and traveling up Commercial Way when he turned on to Lakefront Drive where he lives.

Harris told Deputy Christopher Vascellaro his license was suspended because he owes money on 10 citations. Law enforcement confirmed Harris has had 13 license suspensions for failure to pay traffic fines, and he was booked on $500 bond at the Hernando County Jail.

Court records show Harris has been charged in the past with traffic infractions, including driving without a seatbelt, not exhibiting a driverís license, no proof of insurance, improper or unsafe equipment, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, excessive noise, running a stop sign and invalid registration.
