BROOKSVILLE - A 24-year-old woman was arrested Friday afternoon after threatening to kill her sister, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

A verbal argument between Doretha A. Shaw, of Boxwood Avenue, and her sister became physical when Shaw pushed her to the ground, deputies said. An arrest affidavit shows Shaw sat on top of her, holding her down, and pointed a kitchen knife in her direction, threatening to kill her.

The alleged victim told an arriving deputy she feared for her life, the report shows.

Shaw was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (without intent to kill) and domestic battery. She continues to be held in lieu of $5,500 bail.

Records do not show Shaw has been arrested in Hernando County in the past.
