Woman booked on charges of deputy battery

SPRING HILL -

A Millwood Road woman was booked on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer Thursday night, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Nancy Elizabeth Hansen, 59, was “incoherent” and “hindering EMS” who was trying to assist a “disoriented and confused” man at the same home, the arrest affidavit stated.

Hansen said she was granted the man’s power of attorney but did not have any paperwork and attempted to keep him away from the medics by pushing him back inside the house.

When a deputy told Hansen to let the man be treated, she slapped him on the forearm and was promptly arrested. In his report, the deputy noted he smelled alcohol on Hansen’s breath.

Court records show Hansen was adjudicated guilty of felony battery in 2003; on two counts of battery in 2002 — one count on a person over 65 years old; and on retail theft charges in 1998.

Hansen is being held on $5,000 bond.
