Woman introduced drugs into jail, deputies say

Published:

SPRING HILL - A 24-year-old New Port Richey woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and introducing a hydromorphone pill into the Hernando County Jail.

A sheriff's office arrest affidavit shows a deputy went to a Chase Street home in Spring Hill after several 911 hangup calls.

Lavena Myers, 24, was standing outside the home, and allowed Deputy Marijean VanSyckle to search her person.

The deputy found a bottle of morphine and hydromorphone in her pants pocket.

At the jail, Myers was found with a hydromorphone pill hidden in her bra.

Myers was booked on two counts of possessing a controlled substance and introducing contraband into a detention facility. She was being held on no bail because she was already released on bail on similar charges.

Court records show Myers has been convicted of retail theft and driving with a suspended license in Hernando County in the past.
