Woman threatens boyfriend with barbecue fork, deputies say

BROOKSVILLE - A 48-year-old Brooksville woman was arrested Wednesday after threatening to stab her boyfriend with a barbecue fork.

The alleged victim was sleeping in a locked bedroom at their Canal Drive home when he awoke to Cindy Lee Shreffler "kicking, punching and stabbing," according to reports.

After letting her in, Shreffler demanded money from her boyfriend, and brandished a six-inch, two-prong barbecue fork, an arrest affidavit shows.

The man tried to defend himself using a blanket, and Shreffler eventually dropped the fork during a struggle, deputies said. He ran to a neighbor's house and called 911.

Shreffler said she shook the fork at her boyfriend, the affidavit shows.

She was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a weapon without intent to kill, and is being held in lieu of $2,000 bail at the Hernando County Jail.
