Zoning board approves nail salon inside Spring Hill home

Published:

BROOKSVILLE - It took barely five minutes for planning and zoning commissioners to vote unanimously to approve a special exception use permit for Louise Holmes to operate a nail salon from her Spring Hill home.

There was no citizen comment and the planning board made only one stipulation: no doing business on Sunday.

Holmes will operate from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. depending on appointments, at the home on Linden Drive.

The proprietor will be her daughter Laura, who lives at the home. She plans to open up a salon somewhere in Spring Hill once her business gets established.

Holmes said she will use 255 square feet of the home for the salon, which comes to about 8.4 percent of the total area of the home. County regulations restrict home occupations to no more than 25 percent of the total floor area
