Swimmer of the Year

Morgan Kiloh

200-yard freestyle/200-yard IM/100-yard butterfly/100-yard freestyle/500-yard freestyle/100-yard backstroke

Springstead - Senior

COMMENTS: Repeat Swimmer of the Year and a four-time All-County pick . First county boy to reach states since 2008, and first county swimmer to advance out of state prelims since that same year . Seeded 21st in the 200 free heading into the Class 2A FHSAA Finals, he swam a personal-best 1:48.01 to finish 16th in prelims and qualify for the consolation final . That night, he established a new best for himself and the county this season, swimming a 1:47.03 to place fifth in the consolation final and 13th overall . A three-time regional qualifier, this time making it individually in the 200 free (fourth, 1:48.74) and 100 fly (eighth, county-best 56.04) . Went to regionals in the 200 free each of the previous two seasons, plus the 100 fly as a sophomore and 100 free as a junior . In 2A-District 6 Meet, placed second in both the 200 free (1:51.14) and 100 fly (57.72) . During the regular season, notched the county's fastest times in the 200 IM (2:13.38), 100 free (53.18), 500 free (5:14.36) and 100 back (1:00.70).

QUOTES: "As he matured, he tried harder, worked harder every day at practice. He had goals he wanted to set and I think he met them. . He dropped a considerable amount of time. He also swam with me over the summer and that might have had a lot to do with it. . This year he really did prove to be a good leader. And I don't think it was just him, his teammates, as well, helped him. The team as a whole worked together."

Hunter Geisen

COMMENTS: Part of All-County 400-free relay last season . Produced county's fastest time in the 100 breast finishing fourth in 2A-6 Meet, swimming a 1:10.92 . Competed at regionals in that race, placing 18th (1:11.52), as well as the 200 free, finishing 22nd (2:07.83) . Placed seventh in 2A-6 in 200 free (2:08.20).

QUOTES: "He had a really good year. He was dedicated to high school swimming. He worked every day in practice and strived to do the best he can. . That's (breaststroke) just one of the strokes he had a knack for."

Trey Patterson

50-yard freestyle

Springstead - Sophomore

COMMENTS: Regional qualifier in 50 free, finishing fifth with a county-best 23.33 . Also made regionals in the 100, placing 19th (55.61) . At district meet, took fourth in 50 (24.13) and sixth in 100 (56.81).

QUOTES: "He started with me last year. He swam off and on in the year-round program. But he just has a knack for short sprints."

Kiloh, Geisen, Patterson, Matthew Sundell

COMMENTS: Kiloh, Geisen, Patterson and the senior Sundell posted county-best times at the 2A-Region II Meet in the 200 medley (1:48.78) and 200 free (1:36.08), placing second and fourth respectively . Captured a district title in the 200 free (1:37.99) and took second in 2A-6 in the 200 medley (1:50.45) . Kiloh, Geisen, Patterson and the sophomore Brockway swam a county-best 3:49.21 in the 400 free Oct. 3 against Crystal River at Bicentennial Park.

QUOTES: "I think everybody fed off of Morgan (Kiloh). They pushed each other every time they swam and had fun doing it at the same time. The teamwork was amazing with those guys. . They worked better (than in past years) even though a couple kids weren't year-round swimmers. It seems like each year we get a little better and hopefully that continues the next couple years."

Springstead - 3rd year

COMMENTS: Third straight Coach of the Year selection . The Eagles went 6-2 during the regular season, going 4-0 against county foes . Over his three seasons, the boys have gone a combined 20-8, including 13-0 within the county . Springstead placed third in 2A-6 (277), seventh in 2A-II (110) and tied for 45th at states with four points.

QUOTES: "I believe it was my best season coaching at Springstead, just for the fact the whole team was great. It wasn't just the top swimmers. It was the whole team that made it a great season."
