BROOKSVILLE - For the Central Bears and Williston Red Devils, Friday looked every bit of a preseason game.

The Red Devils pulled out a 19-6 victory, in a game that looked like neither team wanted to win. The two squads combined for 15 fumbles, although they only lost six of them. Mix in a combined 19 penalties for 152 yards and neither team looked ready to open their seasons next week.

"We just got to get back to being a tactical team." Bears head coach Mike Einspahr said. "If we don't get those (fundamentals) down, the rest doesn't matter."

Williston pushed out to an early 12-0 lead behind an 18-yard touchdown run by Demikul Robinson and a 69-yard punt return from Devon Webb.

The Bears, on the other hand, had trouble with the center-quarterback exchange, and ball security in general, fumbling six times and losing four of them.

Lost in the fray of the game, was Cole Teater, the Bears' quarterback, who looked more like a running back, breaking tackles and carrying the ball to the tune of 14 carries for four yards. He had 60 rushing yards before losing yardage from sacks.

"Cole is a man-child out there," Einsphar said. "We have to shore up our protection, but Cole is a warrior."

Teater was 4-for-10 for 18 yards through the air, but drops and untimely penalties killed drives throughout the night.

The Red Devils were paced by Robinson and Willie Duncan, who had nine carries for 55 yards and five carries for 63 yards respectively.

The Bears' lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter when their JV squad hit a 55-yard pass for the touchdown, Sebastian Rivera throwing to Sean Glover.

"We just had a lack of focus," Einsphar said. "We need to get back at it and get ready for Hudson."

The regular season starts next week as the Bears welcome the Hudson Cobras to town. Kickoff is at 7:30.
