BROOKSVILLE - The Central Bears played relatively well in Friday night's disappointing 32-23 loss to Hudson at the Bears' Den.

Central looked much more composed than in the preseason, and built off rushing success.

"We played well and definitely have some things to build on," said Central head coach Mike Einspahr. "But this loss hurts nonetheless."

It was penalties and a poor receiving performance that dashed Central's hopes of victory. Central's receivers combined for six drops while quarterback Cole Teater only completed two passes out of 11 attempts for 25 yards.

The Bears started strong with a 13-yard touchdown run by Teater late in the first quarter.

Central was able to match a subsequent touchdown from Hudson with an incredible 92-yard kickoff return from Austin Utter.

Robbie Bradley kicked a 21-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the second quarter to put Central up 17-12 going into halftime.

Central owed a lot of its offensive success to Bradley. The senior ran for an astonishing 205 yards on 19 carries.

"He's the one we rally behind," said Einspahr "He shows so much athletic ability running as well as kicking field goals and extra points."

Central combined for a rushing total of 303 total yards. Quarterback Cole Teater ran for 90 yards on 16 carries and appeared resilient against the Hudson defense that was able to suppress the Bears' offense in the second half.

Hudson garnered the momentum scoring two unanswered touchdowns in the second half before Bradley ran for a 40-yard touchdown.

That drew the game close as at 25-23. It was the only scoring play for Central in the second half as the Cobras were able to strike for one final score that effectively put the game out of reach going into the final minute.

The Bears tried to finish strong with a deep pass from Teater only to be intercepted as the clock ran out, ending the game.
