Three local prep baseball players have been selected out of District 10 to participate in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Classic, May 25-26 in Sebring.
Hernando High head coach Tim Sims, the District 10 director, announced this week that Leopard shortstop Christian Arroyo has been named district MVP, with Springstead’s Brandon Brosher and Hernando’s Brandon Lawson as first and second runners-up respectively.
All three seniors have signed with Division I colleges, Arroyo with the University of Florida, Brosher with Oral Roberts University and Lawson with USF.
Arroyo is hitting .520 with 12 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 35 runs batted in and 40 runs scored. Lawson, a pitcher/outfielder, is 11-0 with a 0.27 earned run average, striking out 125 batters in 77 innings.
Brosher, a pitcher/first baseman, is hitting .441 with four homers, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored. On the mound, he’s 5-2 with a 1.96 ERA, and has recorded 80 strikes across 50 innings of work.
