Hernando High graduate Christian Arroyo has signed with the San Francisco Giants, the team announced on Tuesday.
According to Baseball America, Arroyo, drafted 25th overall in this month's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, signed for $1,866,500, which is the value assigned to his draft slot.
"Proud to officially be a San Francisco Giant. Time to get to AT&T park ASAP and win a ring! Thanks for the support #SFgiants" Arroyo said via his Twitter account.
Arroyo, who had previously signed with the University of Florida, recently completed his senior year with the Leopards hitting .524 with 13 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 42 runs scored. He is the first player from Hernando County ever taken in the first round of the June Amateur Draft.
