OCALA – Hernando High seniors Courtney Riddle and Tana McDaniel have been chosen to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association 25th All-Star Softball Classic on Friday at Ocala-Forest High.
Riddle, a pitcher signed with the College of Central Florida, was named District 10 Player of the Year after going 27-2 with a 1.48 earned run average, and also hitting .485 with 19 extra-base hits and 44 runs batted in.
The shortstop McDaniel signed with Division I Morehead State before the season, then posted a .440 average, notching 15 extra-base hits with 35 runs scored and 30 RBI.
They’ll both suit up for the West All-Stars, led by Central head coach Tyson Ellis, assisted by Hernando headman Kevin Bittinger and Citrus head coach Larry Bishop.
The West plays the East Friday at 6 p.m. The event continues with a consolation and championship game on Saturday.
