After four seasons of failing to advance a swimmer to states, Hernando County will be represented at Saturday's Class 2A FHSAA Finals.

Two Springstead seniors, Morgan Kiloh and Monica Surrena, garnered at-large berths based on their regional times, and will head to Sailfish Splashpark Aquatic Athletics Center in Stuart to compete this coming weekend.

The last county swimmers to get past regionals were Springstead's Dan Barry and Central's Barrett Sheffield in 2008. Surrena is the first female to make it since current Weeki Wachee head coach Elizabeth McGeehan with Central in 2007.

Both Kiloh and Surrena qualified in the 200-yard freestyle. Surrena grabbed the 24th and final spot with the school-record 2:00.03 she posted in the 2A-Region II Meet in Orlando on Friday. Kiloh is seeded 21st thanks to a 1:48.74.

Surrena also qualified in the 100 free, ranking 24th at 55.82.
