LECANTO -- Wilena Little had her day Wednesday.

The Springstead senior won the long jump with an 18-1 leap at the Class 3A, District 7 Meet Wednesday at Lecanto. Little also won the 200 meter with a 26.65 time.

She earned a spot in the 3A-Region II Meet Wednesday at Lake Mineola, as the top four finishers in each event advanced.

She additionally helped Springstead's girls finish fourth in the district with 66 points. Land O' Lakes High won it with 165.

The Eagle boys took third with 79. The Gator boys won with 187.5.

Little's coach had reason to celebrate. She had injury problems this year.

"This is her first time over 18 this year," said Springstead girls coach Joel Myers. "She jumped very well today. She was fourth in the state in the long jump last year. It (the injury) started out with the knee and went into the Achilles tendon and shin splints. She has not been right. The last few weeks, she has been just starting to get back to where she was last year."

The Springstead girls 4x800 team took second with a 10:23. The Springstead boys 4x800 team was fourth with a time of 8:37.

Springstead's Bobby Harris won the high jump with a 6-6 leap. He is the defending state champion in that event. He was second in the triple jump at 43-6.

Springstead's Tyler Mahla was second in the boys 110 hurdles with a time of 16.65, and won the 300 hurdles with a 42.44.

James Amodie won the boys 800 with a 2:03.14. Teammate Jai Jackson was third with a 2:03.32. The 4x100 team was fourth with a time of 46.22.
