A Brooksville man upset about being kicked out of a Pasco County strip club was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer Sunday morning after striking and spitting on a deputy, according to authorities.
Jeovani Hernandez, 22, of 16307 Pointview Rd., was inside Calendar Girls, 16309 U.S. Highway 19, about 1:15 a.m. when he was told to leave. Hernandez told deputies he used his younger bother's ID to enter the club and was told to leave after he was served a drink, deputies said.
While outside the club, Hernandez punched a mirror on a car and a windshield of a truck, causing $800 worth of damage, deputies said. Hernandez was chased from the parking lot by security guards and later caught by a Pasco Sheriff's Office K-9 unit near Diagonal Road and Eden Avenue.
As Hernandez was being handcuffed, he swung his elbows, striking the deputy in the chest and leg, the report said. Once he was placed in the patrol car, Hernandez began banging his head against a partition that separates the backseat from the front seat. The deputy used pepper spray on Hernandez to get him to stop, according to the report.
Hernandez then spit on the deputy's face and some of the saliva went into his right eye, the report said.
Hernandez is charged with two counts of criminal mischief and battery on a law enforcement officer. He was released from the Land O' Lakes Jail Sunday night after posting a $2,800 bond.
