Deputies: Man faces assault charges after driving toward bouncer

Published:

A Mulberry man was arrested Sunday morning after accelerating his truck toward a bouncer in the parking lot of a Plant City lounge, according to Hillsborough authorities.

Abraham Martinez, 21, 3975 Willowtree Place, was at Twilight Zone Lounge, 4010 State Road 60, just before 1 a.m. Sunday when he was refused services, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest report said.

He began to argue with a bouncer and at some point grabbed a metal pipe and threatened the employee, deputies said.

Martinez left briefly and returned driving his GMC pickup truck. Martinez raced his truck onto the curb of the business, toward the bouncer, but did not hit him, deputies said.

Martinez was arrested two miles away at the intersection of State Road 60 East and Horton Road nearly an hour later on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest without violence.

He remains in the Orient Road Jail with a $2,500 bond.
