BROOKSVILLE -

A jealous boyfriend bit the lip off of a man he believed was making a move on his girlfriend, a report states.

The incident happened July 17 during a party at 178 Fairmont Drive, when the victim began dancing with the suspect's girlfriend. The suspect, Corey Carroll, attacked from behind and while grappling with the suspect, bit down on the victim's lip and refused to let go, a report states.

Carroll was pulled off of the victim by witnesses and in the process severed the victim's lower lip, a report states.

The victim was taken to Oak Hill Hospital, then transported to Tampa General Hospital for plastic surgery.

On Tuesday, the victim identified Carroll as the suspect; Carroll's girlfriend told a deputy that the victim made an "inappropriate advance" on her and that's when Carroll attacked, a report states. She added that Carroll had been drinking heavily.

Carroll, 19, of 12299 Lark Sparrow Road, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
