Wishing everyone an exceptionally happy, healthy and blessed Mother's Day. May these wishes go with you through the coming year.

St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows on U.S. 41 south will have Holy Communion at the 10:30 a.m. Mass for Natasha Hottenstein and her brother Brandon Hottenstein. After this Mass, there will be a procession and the crowning of our Blessed Mother on her day. After the crowning, a reception will be held in the parish hall for the new communicants and joined by them will be this year's, Joseph DeMarco and Jonas Gonzalez, who were confirmed on April 24 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A joyous reception to all.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on U.S. 41 south holds Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in the Ministry Center on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. and is open to everyone. The Tuesday Al Anon group for families of alcoholics meets on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Classroom A. For more information, call the church office at 352-796-4066. At the food pantry they have stopped collecting yogurt lids/covers. The breast cancer program sponsored by Yoplait to help the fight against breast cancer is now ended. Thanks a lot. There is still much needed in the food pantry with the youngsters home for the summer. The kids want and need more, so please do not forget your donations. Check your grocery store's weekly sales or discount stores, every little bit helps. Do not forget our service personnel overseas and our seniors. The men and women need deodorants, shampoos, toothbrushes, dental floss, wet wipes, women's hygiene items, combs, razors, shaving cream, used DVDs, phone cards and healthy snacks.

Sympathies to another local family on the loss of their son, 20-year-old Johnathon Harris, who died April 28. He leaves his mother Renee Turner, twin sister Ashley Harris, younger sister Jessie Turner, his father Mark Harris, his grandpa Tom "Papa" James, and many neighbors and friends. Born and raised here, Johnathon was laid to rest in Masaryktown Cemetery. You are gone, but will not be forgotten.

A baby shower was held in Ridge Manor Park for Savannah and Jacob Gavish and their two daughters, LiLi and Jayden Gavish. Savannah is due around May 10. The shower was hosted by her mother Tina Findley and aunt Daniell Hasson. Relatives attending were Neva Finley, great-grandmother; Joe and Tina Finley, parents of Savannah; her brother Joe Carter; aunt Faye Ybarra; Daniell and Kevin Hasson, aunt and uncle; Wiley and Leslie Finley, aunt and uncle; Cody Hasson and Jordon Hasson, cousins; and the Ybarra cousins J.G., Kesha, Faithlyn, Maria, Gavin and Jose; and several friends. More than 30 folks had a happy, grand time.
