BROOKSVILLE -

The Hernando County Airport has been designated as one of the airports where errant pilots will be escorted if they violate the 10-mile no-fly zone during the Republican National Convention Aug. 27-30.

Airport Manager Don Silvernell said officials from the Transportation Security Administration and the FBI visited recently and made the decision to divert planes here and two other places.

Silvernell said he doesn't expect any problems during the convention.

"Hopefully, everyone will pay attention and nobody (flies) into that zone," Silvernell said. "We don't expect a whole lot of changes here."
