17-year-old charged as adult in homicide case

SPRING HILL -

A 17-year-old boy arrested and charged with first-degree murder Dec. 9 for allegedly stabbing and killing his mother's boyfriend following an argument will be tried as an adult, according to the Hernando County Circuit Clerk's Office.

While Jesse Robert Daily was initially charged with first-degree murder by the Sheriff's Office, the charge has been amended to second-degree murder by the State Attorney's Office. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail on Dec. 21.

Daily turned 18 nine days after the stabbing death of David Floyd, 39.

Following an argument, Daily left the house all three occupy at 10036 Hayes St. in Spring Hill, according to a sheriff's report, then later returned and became violent with Floyd and got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him.

Three other juveniles were present in the home but were not injured, the report said.

According to Judy Daily's Facebook page, who is Jesse's mother, she had been in a relationship with Floyd since Dec. 8, 2010.

No arraignment date has been set on the amended charge.
