Politics like beauty is surely in the eye of the beholder. Recently we have read articles by recycled former employees of a large daily that has changed its name, but not its liberal bent.
In the latest diatribe by one of these left-wing Obama sycophants the writer is delusionary in his incoherent assault on former Gov. Mitt Romney. He starts out by mentioning six Republicans who he assigns some meaningless traits then immediately goes on to trash Romney as being devoid of any admirable traits.
He dredges up a purported story that is 50 years old about Romney in high school that no one can verify. Even the family of the alleged victim, who is deceased, wouldn't verify the event as having happened.
The writer claims that Romney is not to be trusted with protecting and defending the Constitution but the current occupant of the White House is better suited for that role. He dismisses the accomplishments of President Ronald Reagan because he was "an actor."
Forget that he headed the SAG for more than one term, forget that he was the governor of the largest state in the union for two terms and went on to become a great president of the United States for two terms winning landside elections.
His was the task of cleaning up the mess from the Carter years that brought us 18 percent interest rates and a wounded economy. Just as JFK before him Reagan understood that the American people were better suited to spending their money than the government. His claim the business success, such as Mitt Romney had, does not guarantee nor is it essential to a successful presidency; and he is correct in that thought.
However, when he compares Obama to Lincoln, because they are lawyers, he begins to unravel his theory. Obama is no Lincoln and will never be anything approaching the stature of our 16th president. The writer, when he writes of the former president G.W. Bush he denigrates his business experience and rails about "his wars" that cost us so much but failed to mention Vietnam which was LBJ's grand debacle that cost us 60,000 killed and an enormous amount of money.
But that's OK he was a Democrat so he is automatically forgiven for his failures and deceit in pursuing the war. Back to Romney whose business success was ill gotten and with malice aforethought. Yes his job at Bain Capital was to make money for the investors, which he did, and by the way established some very successful businesses that exist to today.
For that he is to be condemned and because there were some investments that didn't work out which caused layoffs to occur. So the writer can find not admirable traits in Romney but he can find them in a person who is the least qualified man to ever hold the office of president.
A community organizer whose only business experience was how-to use a bull horn and shout slogans. He did not practice law like Lincoln and the writer should be ashamed to make such a fallacious comparison. The person who is not to be trusted is the one who sits and tells the Russians he will have more to give away after he is elected.
So much for the resetting of relations with the world as France has told him they are out of Afghanistan ASAP and the Chinese are signing agreements with Afghan officials while American soldiers are still dying and the Russians supplying attack helicopters to the Syrian government to kill more of its citizens.
