BROOKSVILLE -

Emergency Management Director Cecilia Patella told commissioners at their meeting Tuesday she is concerned about flooding on the Withlacoochee River, which has risen three feet in the last 24 hours.

The Withlacoochee at Croom and Trilby should exceed flood stage by Wednesday and residents there will be notified to take action or possibly leave their homes.

Patella said there is also concern about coastal flooding as Tropical Storm Debby progresses in its eastward path and nearing a Cedar Key landfall sometime tomorrow..

Hospitals are reporting ample space and there have been no traffic fatalities from the storm, she said.

Patella asked residents to exercise caution while traveling on area roads. Her department will continue to monitor the storm.

Residents who have questions are urged to call the emergency management at (352) 754-4083.
