MASARYKTOWN -

A Weeki Wachee woman was charged Tuesday with a bevy of drug counts following a search of a suspicious vehicle along Washington Avenue.

A Hernando County Sheriff's deputy responded around 8 a.m. and asked one of the women seated in a Ford Ranger for her identification, at which time he noticed her hide something underneath a towel, according to an arrest affidavit.

The suspect admitted she was hiding a plastic straw and then admitted she had been snorting pills, deputies said.

By the end of the investigation, Jennifer Ann McKinney, 39, of 5282 Tuscawilla Drive, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of drug trafficking, methamphetamine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession.

After searching the vehicle further, the deputy on scene discovered a pipe with methamphetamine residue, according to the sheriff's office.

McKinney also had several prescription pills in her purse, including oxycodone and hydrocodone, deputies said.

While at the Hernando County Jail, the suspect admitted she had a small amount of marijuana tucked inside her bra, according to the affidavit.

McKinney was jailed on a total bond of $76,000.
