The Hernando County Sheriff's Office recently conducted a check of registered sexual offenders and predators living in the county that resulted in five arrests.
The check was designed to ensure sexual offenders and predators were in compliance with all court-mandated regulations and restrictions.
Deputies in major crimes, with assistance from patrol and community oriented policing and problem solving, first researched information on various sexual offenders and predators residing throughout the county, according to a sheriff's office press release.
That investigation revealed discrepancies with the driver's licenses of several registered sexual offenders and predators.
Registered sexual offenders and predators are required to have their current residential address on their driver's license. The five arrested were charged with sex offender violation, failure to report name or residence change. Bond was set at $20,000 for each individual.
