BROOKSVILLE -

Planning and zoning commissioners will hear a request Monday to convert an existing Knights of Columbus building in Spring Hill into medical offices.

The site, located at the southeast corner of Spring Hill Drive and Hastings Road, is 1.8 acres and part of the original Spring Hill master plan designated for special use, including fraternal organizations and churches.

The petitioners, Vatsala Sastry and Rao Ravishankar, are requesting a zoning change to general commercial to renovate the site for the offices.

Planning staffers are recommending approval.

The planning and zoning meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N. Main St. in downtown Brooksville.

Also Monday:

Four-and-a-half years later, Nick Nicholson, president of Nicholson Engineering Associates and owner of the property, will ask the county to take 30 of those acres and rezone them to agriculture.

Planning staff is recommending approval.

The county received four applications for the position.
