With the general election only weeks away, residents can get an up front and personal look at all the participants on Thursday, when Hernando Today hosts a candidates forum.
Candidate Connection 2012 will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Springstead High School Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd. in Spring Hill. All local, state and national candidates on the ballot have been invited to the event, which will be moderated by Buddy Selph, broker with Tommie Dawson Realty.
Because of limited seating, attendants must RSVP by Monday by calling Denise Nohejl at Hernando Today at 544-5206 or by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org
Candidate Connection 2012 is hosted by Hernando Today, in conjunction with Hernando County government, Chick-fil-A, the Hernando County School Board, Hernando Progress, WWJB and the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce.
"We believe this will be an opportunity for our community to get to know the candidates and understand their plans if they win election to public office," said Duane Chichester, publisher of Hernando Today. "The theater at Springstead High School is a great venue for our citizens to connect with the candidates."
There will be a portion where the audience can write down a question that may be asked.
Chick-fil-A will provide light refreshments during the meet-and-greet segment from 5-6 p.m. outside the auditorium.
There will be an intermission midway through the forum.
The panel includes Hernando Today Editor Michael Terry, the staff reporters, First Vice President of the Hernando County NAACP Paul Douglas and former county commissioner Len Tria.
Hernando County Government Broadcasting will videotape the event to run on Bright House Channel 622 at a later time.
