Call it an appetizer to Biden-Ryan.
Before the vice presidential contenders spar during a televised debate, 24 local candidates will have their own chance to speak about the issues before a packed auditorium.
The Hernando Candidate Connection 2012 will begin at 6 p.m. at the Springstead High School Theater at 3300 Mariner Blvd.
The forum is being organized by Hernando Today, in conjunction with Hernando County government, Chick-fil-A, the Hernando County School Board, Hernando Progress, WWJB and the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce.
If time permits, there will be an audience portion of the debate. There will also be an intermission midway through the forum.
Hernando Today publisher Duane Chichester will serve as host.
The panel will include Hernando Today editor Michael Terry, reporters Michael Bates, Jeff Schmucker and Tony Holt, First Vice President of the Hernando County NAACP Paul Douglas and former county commissioner Len Tria.
The moderators will be Buddy Selph and John Mitten.
Prior to the forum, there will be a meet-and-greet segment from 5 to 6 p.m. outside the auditorium. Chick-fil-A will provide light refreshments.
Hernando County Government Broadcasting will record the event and air it on Bright House Channel 622. The air dates have not been determined.
