BROOKSVILLE -

A Crystal River man was jailed following allegations he drove drunk and crashed into a water pipe Sunday night.

A Hernando County Sheriff's deputy responded shortly before 11:45 p.m. at State Road 50 near Grove Road and discovered an intoxicated Robert Lockwood Bleakley III, according to an arrest affidavit.

The vehicle he drove had struck a water pipe and a fence and the total damage was about $3,000, deputies said.

Bleakley, 32, told the deputy at the scene he had just left a football party and then spontaneously said he wanted to speak to his wife and his attorney, according to reports.

The suspect provided two breath samples and his blood-alcohol level was .235 and .258, deputies said.

A driver with a BAL of .08 and above is considered driving while intoxicated, according to Florida law.

Bleakley was charged with DUI and DUI with damage to property.
