SPRING HILL -

Deputies arrested a man Saturday afternoon following allegations he slashed his wife's car tire, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her to the ground and assaulted her with his SUV.

Duane David Sclesky, 26, of 5133 Abagail Drive in Spring Hill, was charged with aggravated assault, domestic battery and resisting arrest without violence.

A woman told authorities she was at a birthday party along Abagail when she heard a loud bang, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the woman came outside and saw her husband, Sclesky, down the road yelling at her and walking toward her. Moments earlier, he had swiped her car and slashed her tire, authorities said.

Sclesky grabbed the woman, pushed her to the ground, grabbed her by the throat after she got up and pushed her to the ground again, according to an arrest affidavit.

Sclesky's wife got up and walked away, at which time the suspect got into his Nissan Xtera and accelerated toward her, deputies said.

She jumped out of the way and avoided getting struck by the SUV.

The suspect was interviewed by deputies and he admitted he was angry with his wife after learning she was having an affair, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said he ran away from them when they first encountered him, but eventually he was apprehended.
