Probation, really?

To think I never drink when I'm out with friends because I don't want to get a DUI. However, if the only consequences after two DUIs, two counts of drug possession and two counts for driving with a suspended license within 10 months is only 1 year of probation, community service and a $1,500 fine more people will be taking their chances.

Nice job Hernando County courts. What a fine example you have set for our youth. Beware Hernando County citizens, I'm sure this isn't the last you'll hear about Amy Sargent.

Spring Hill

Sidewalk to nowhere

I had my morning snicker last week when I viewed the editorial cartoon "sidewalk to nowhere."

I have been calling them this for the last year or so. My understanding is that the traffic signals and sidewalks were installed at Spring Lake Highway, Mondon Hill Road and State Road 50 as a directive of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

My question has always been where will these disabled people walk after they leave the corners – perhaps the ditch along the gas station, or perhaps they should just continue on Mondon Hill Road, where that big curve is. And then, of course, then there are the new sidewalks installed east and west bound on S.R. 50.

What good are they with the "sidewalk closed signs" and where are they going? They just stop in the middle of nowhere, all discolored and some piled with what appears to be sand bags! And then I ask when they are going to mow the grass along this stretch of highway, what an ugly, unappealing "welcome sign" to our beautiful city of Brooksville.

To all our liberal minded Obama supporters out there I have a question? The "Obama Plan" as Bill Clinton says to accept as the way out of our economic doldrums supposedly puts all the middle class to work through education and inter structure jobs.

Though this rhetoric has supporters mostly the Labor and Teachers Unions, the big "Question" is where the money is going to come from. Are we going to add to the $16 trillion debt this administration has accumulated, raise taxes, print money and add to inflation, just how we are going to fund Obamanomics.

Most of the middle class in this country work for small business and there neither Union nor going to school. The tax cuts  and the plans to get government regulations out of the way so small business can grow and hire, exactly what Romney/Ryan has proposed will promote growth not put us further in debt.

Now I like to address this misnomer that all GOP supporters are anti women. Abortions through Planned Parenthood should be covered under certain circumstances (rape & incest) just what Mitt Romney has proclaimed, don't expect us the taxpayer to pick up the tab if your unwanted pregnancy is through stupidity or laziness not when there are a thousand means of birth control on the market and free of charge at many venues.

Obama has had four years to get out of this whole were in, and his policies have just made the hole bigger. When your resume has under past employment "Neighborhood Activist" that's not much experience in the job creation market.

Don't get caught up in this class warfare the Democrats are trying to create, the rich as they're being portrayed are those small business owners who will employ the middle class and if were going to climb out of this whole than there going to need all the help they can get.
