A Brooksville woman was charged Wednesday with domestic battery following allegations she threw a cigarette butt at her husband and burned the back of his neck.

Micaela Debra Payne, 22, of 7971 Crystal Brook Circle, was arrested shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Mariner Boulevard and Hearth Road following a dispute she had with her husband, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the couple began arguing earlier that night at a house off Palomar Street and the yelling continued when they reached the intersection.

Payne is accused of grabbing her husband by the arm and torso and not allowing him to leave when he tried to separate himself from her.

When he did break free of her grasp, she flicked her cigarette at him and struck him on the back of the neck, which left a small burn mark, deputies said.

Payne was transported to the Hernando County Jail and held without bond.
