BROOKSVILLE -

A shoplifting suspect was charged with an additional count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor following allegations she stole from Walmart with her 13-year-old son in tow.

Tina M. Araniecke, 45, of 7488 Hawkins Ave. in Brooksville, was detained around 5:30 p.m. by an employee at the store at 7305 Broad St., according to the Brooksville Police Department.

Police responded and took Araniecke into custody. Her 13-year-old son was not charged.

An employee observed Araniecke walk into the store with her son, grab bicycle accessories off the shelf, remove them from their packages and conceal them in her purse, police said.

She tried walking out of the store with the items, but was intercepted by a Walmart employee, according to a media release.

The items were worth about $81, police said.

Araniecke was transported to Hernando County Jail and held in lieu of $500 bail. Her son was released to his father, police said.
