COMMENTS: A three-time All-County pick … The county's only boy to reach a regional championship final and the first to do so since 2008 … A repeat regional qualifier … Came in third at the 2A-II Meet in the 100 free (50.64) and swam a county-best 50.14 in prelims … Also placed fifth in 2A-II in the 200 free (1:50.09), with a county-best 1:49.91 in prelims … In 2011, went to regionals in the 200 free (17th, 2:00.42) and 100 fly (20th, 1:01.95) … This year, tied for a district championship in the 100 free at the 2A-5 Meet, with Wesley Chapel's John Thompson, as they both completed the race in 50.71 … Fourth in the district in the 200 free (1:55.04) … Third year in a row he paced the county in the 100 back, registering a 1:01.82 in a Oct. 6 tri-meet against Hernando and Nature Coast at the YMCA of the Suncoast Hernando County Branch (1:08.81 in 2011, 1:10.97 in 2010) … A time of 1:00.55 in the 100 fly Sept. 22 against Nature Coast at the YMCA led the county in that event … Set the county pace in the 500 free (5:40.29) on Sept. 19 against Gulf and Anclote at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center.

QUOTES: "He did have a breakthrough year. From last year to this year, he improved greatly. I think that had a lot to do with him swimming in the offseason. He had a rocky start in the beginning of the season, but in the end he really pulled it out. … He has the heart to win and compete. … This year (his strength) seemed to be freestyle. This year it was the 100 and 200, although he can swim any stroke he wanted to and still come out on top."

COMMENTS: Swam the county's fastest time in the 50 free (24.47), in both the 2A-II Meet prelims and 2A-5 Meet finals … Placed 16th at regionals with a 24.71 in consolation final … Also advanced to regionals in the 100 back and came in 16th (1:07.26), after posting a 1:04.88 in prelims … At districts, captured fifth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 back (1:08.15).

QUOTES: "Being that he was a first-year swimmer, I'm very proud of him and how hard he worked to make it to regionals. … Determination (made him successful). Being a new swimmer, it was a new sport to him, and he loves to compete and loves to win. … He can keep the same pace the entire time. With the relay, he was usually our 50 free. That's a really good race for him. … He can definitely make it to regionals again. I believe he's going to swim year-round. That's definitely going to help him."

COMMENTS: Repeat All-County selection and regional qualifier … Finished 14th at 2A-II Meet in the 200 IM with a 2:16.30, and swam a county-best 2:15.59 in prelims … Also at regionals, placed 17th in the 100 breast, posting the county's fastest time of 1:10.42 in prelims … Placed fourth in 200 IM (2:17.68) and eighth in 100 breast (1:14.45) at 2A-5 Meet … Last year at regionals, finished 19th in both the 200 IM (2:19.72) and 100 fly (1:01.56).

QUOTES: "He had an up-and-down season. I think he could have swam a whole lot better, but overall I think he met his expectations. I'm still happy and proud of how he swam for the two years I did have him. … He just had the experience. Also, he swam year-round. He had the experience with all the more difficult strokes and he knew how to handle them well."

COMMENTS: Team combined to take fourth place with a county-best time of 1:55.70 at the 2A-5 Meet … Advanced to regionals but got disqualified in prelims … Made up of two seniors (Dalgarn, Vovan), a junior (Perlingieri) and a freshman (Lacy).

QUOTES: "I trained them hard in practice. Joe was cross-training with wrestling. Vovan was cross-training with wrestling. Anthony is a wrestler. Mycah, I made him do extra things. I was just trying to build up their stamina. … At the beginning of the season they were at 2:30-2:40. Within eight weeks, they dropped 30-40 seconds. I think that's impressive."

COMMENTS: In the 200 free, Eagles won the 2A-II consolation final, placing ninth overall with a 1:39.26 … During prelims that day, they pulled off the county's quickest showing of 1:39.14 … In the 400 free, the Eagles placed sixth in 2A-II with the county's finest clocking of 3:36.01 … At 2A-5, Springstead came in fourth in the 200 (1:39.28) and fifth in the 400 (3:43.34) … Sundell and Geisen are both juniors; Gregory is a senior.

QUOTES: "They just happened to be the strongest boys I had for those events. As a team, they worked well together. Just like the girls, they pushed each other. … For what I had compared to last year, I was pretty excited with how they did. Matt Sundell, Hunter and Jake stepped up a lot to fill the spots of seniors who we lost from last year."

COMMENTS: Repeat Coach of the Year selection … Guided the Eagles to another undefeated season within the county (5-0, facing Nature Coast twice) and a 9-2 overall mark … Springstead's boys finished sixth in 2A-5 (178.5) and placed 12th in 2A-II (85).

QUOTES: "It means a lot, especially not having to compete with my wife (former Central head coach Julie Withington). She had it for so many years, now I have a chance to get it. … I was very pleased with how everybody swam. The freshmen and first-time swimmers stepped up and swam very well. I look forward to seeing them next year. … I'm happy with this year. I had a little higher expectations for some of the swimmers, but they still performed at their best and I'm proud of each and every one of them."
