An onshore wind is again bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms from the Gulf of Mexico on what will otherwise be a steamy day in the Tampa Bay area.

The National Weather Service calls for a 50 percent chance of rain today.

Most of the rain will be west of Interstate 75 until the early afternoon, according to WFLA-TV meteorologist Leigh Spann. The rain will push inland in the afternoon.

Highs are forecast in the low 90s, with lows tonight in the high 70s.

The weather service calls for a similar forecast Friday, with rain chances increasing over the weekend, especially on Sunday.
